Saigon Street Lumpia
We created this recipe for International Women's Day inspired by the first female executive chef to serve the White House, Cristeta Pasia Comerford. This light crispy dish is a flavor blaster and can be made in less than thirty minutes. Mix everything together, fry them up and enjoy.
Ingredients
• 1 package of Lumpia wrappers or spring roll wrappers
• 1 pound ground pork
• 1/2 jar Bellisari's Saigon Street Sauce
• 3/4 cup shredded cabbage
• 4 stalks green onion
• 3/4 cup shredded carrot
• 1/2 teaspoon ginger
• 1 egg
• 1/2 cup water in a bowl
• oil for cooking
Directions
In a large mixing bowl place the pork, Bellisari's Saigon Street Sauce, cabbage, onion, carrots, ginger and egg and mix until it is all combined. Place the wrapper on a flat dry surface and place a tablespoon of the filling towards one of the ends of the wrapper. Tuck the edges into the filling and roll the wrapper until there is only an inch of wrapper left. Dip your index finger in the bowl with water and run it over the seam of the wrapper. Finish rolling your Lumpia until it is sealed.
Fill a frying pan with a 1/2 inch of oil and bring it to medium heat. Cook each Lumpia for 4-5 minutes until the wrapper is golden brown. Remove from the heat and place on a paper towel to dry. Serve with sweet and sour sauce.
