I am honored to announce in today’s blog that Bellisari’s won a SOFI!! The Specialty Food Association’s sofi™ Awards have been honoring the best in specialty food for 48 years, and this year they recognized us as winners. Specifically, in the category of salsas & dips, the amazing Bellisari's Balsamic Shallot & Black Garlic Spread won GOLD!
Winning a sofi, puts us right up there with those considered “today's tastemakers.” I will proudly display the sofi gold trophy at our next food show —it’s a recognized symbol of excellence and innovation in our industry.
To give you an overview of what criteria is used in judging, all products competing for the sofi Gold & Silver Awards in each category are judged on:
Based on a product’s flavor, appearance, texture and aroma, and how these qualities come together as a whole.
- How pleasant are the taste and aftertaste of the product?
- Is the product aesthetically appealing?
- How is the consistency and mouthfeel?
- Does the aroma positively impact the overall experience?
30% INGREDIENT QUALITY
This is an evaluation of a product’s ingredients, with consideration given to the use of ingredients in creative ways.
- Additives or Artificial Ingredients
- Are there any unnecessary additives or artificial ingredients in the product or involved in its manufacture?
- Are there any unexpected ingredients being used, or are common ingredients being used in unexpected ways? Is the overall result a positive, creative experience?
- Every product receives a score between 1.00 and 5.00 points. Within each category, the entry with the highest score receives the Gold and the 2nd highest receives the Silver.
Clearly, our delicious Bellisari's Balsamic Shallot & Black Garlic Spread has risen to the challenge, taking the top award in its category!
