Valentine’s Dishes Guaranteed to Spice Up your Life

Posted by Annette Bellisari on

We’re almost to Valentine’s Day, and whether you love it or hate it, there’s no avoiding it. Every grocery store, card shop, and mall is decorated to the hilt with hearts and cupid. However, if cliche candy hearts, cards, and stuffed animals aren’t exactly something you look forward to, take a page from the Bellisari’s book and show your love with food! For my family, every holiday centers around food, and Valentine’s Day is no different.

If you’re looking for a romantic menu, be sure to join us for our first-of-2021 Facebook and Instagram Live event tomorrow, February 11th at 6:30 pm EST. This Live event is going to be extra special because not only are we going to show you how to make 3 romantic and delicious Valentine’s Day appetizers for your love this year, but we’re also going to be coming to you live from Cedar & Thread in Grandville as a part of their SOLD OUT Galentine’s Event. Even though the event is sold out, you can catch Kylie and me doing our demonstration Live on our Facebook and Instagram pages. You don’t want to miss it! Especially if you want ideas for amazing dishes that are guaranteed to say “I love you,” ❤😍

On the menu are 4 recipes that just scream (*or whisper sweet nothings in my ear if a scream is too “loud” for you) romance to me. Surf and turf is always a popular choice for a Valentine’s dinner, and it’s a classic for a reason. But I thought maybe this decades-old classic needed an update. So instead of the whole “sit down and eat a heavy 3-course meal thing, I thought turning these iconic flavors into appetizers might just suit the more modern palate and fast-paced lives of consumers today. As a matter of fact, in recent years, I really never have a formal dinner when I entertain any more. I prefer to serve a variety of small plates or heavy hors d'oeuvres, so nobody goes away hungry but neither do they leave feeling bloated and too full of rich party foods.

  • For the “surf” we’re introducing our lobster phyllo shells. These little bites of heaven are amazing and amazingly easy to make with the newest addition to our Bellisari’s line, our pre-baked mini phyllo shells go great with lobster, but these shells are very versatile and are delicious with almost any sweet or savory filling.
  • Next we present the steak pinwheel as the “turf’ part. Tender beef, cooked to perfection wrapped around a filling of spinach and mushrooms that you won’t want to end.
  • The Blood Orange BBQ Pork Belly Toasts with Pickled Red Onion is a nice dish to mix up your night, this decadent appetizer will allow you to use all of your senses while you are indulging.
  • Finally, wrapped in puff pastry, these fruit and cheese bundles bring with them a bit of sweetness and a bit of heat. Our figs in a blanket is a playful little recipe that has so much taste and personality. They’re sweet but as time goes on, you will start to feel the warm familiar burn of those jalapenos. The textures and flavors in this dish are perfect when you want to add a little touch of sophistication to your table.

Grab your ingredients ahead of time and cook along with me and Kylie! (Oh, and by the way, one cliche heart-shaped box of chocolates is still a good idea! 😏) Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at Bellisari’s.
