Food for Thought: Boos and Brew for your Halloween Bash

Maybe my Halloween costume this year should be that of a witch – all I need is a black pointy hat, right? 😉 I say this because I’ve been conjuring up powerful potions and sweet spells to quench the thirsts of both grownup trick-or-treaters and the little ghosts and goblins too. Let’s all join around the caldron and see what’s on the menu.

For the little ones among us, these fun and tasty drinks will be a hit at any Halloween party!

This one comes to us from England and our friends where apparently they like a seriously scary punch! 

If that’s too scary for your little one’s (or your!!) sensibilities, this next one is still delicious, but it is a little less spooky! 

Toxic Waste Punch

  • Two .13-ounce packets unsweetened lemon-lime drink mix, such as Kool-Aid (It needs to be green)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • One 46-ounce can pineapple juice
  • 12 ounces frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • 32 ounces ginger ale

Mix this punch up and garnish cups with lots of sour gummy worms

If you're hoping your Halloween drink might pack a little punch instead of being a little punch, these are some great adult beverages that are sure to get your guests in the holiday spirit:

Harvest Ginger Peach Cocktail

Serving size 4-6


1 cup vodka

2 cups carbonated beverage

¼ cup Bellisari’s Harvest Ginger Peach Spread


fresh basil


In a pitcher add ice about halfway to 3/4th way up. In a separate bowl, add your berries and basil and begin to muddle. Place muddled berry and basil in the pitcher and set a side.

In a shaker, or a jar with a lid, add Bellisari’s Harvest Ginger Peach Spread and vodka: Shake until well combined. Pour contents over the ice in the pitcher and then add your carbonated beverage. Slowly stir.

Add more berries and basil for garnish and serve.

Our final cocktail has just a little heat from the peppers in the Bellisari’s spread in the ingredients:

Spicy Fig Jam Cocktail


1 ½ oz of vodka

2 tbsp lime juice

1 tbsp Crème de Cocoa

2 tbsp Bellisari’s Blistered Jalapeno & Fig Spread

Fresh Rosemary

Fresh jalapeno, sliced (optional)


Place the lime juice, Crème de Cocoa and Bellisari’s Blistered Jalapeno & Fig Spread in a shaker along with some fresh rosemary and jalapenos. I recommend cutting the rosemary up a bit or bruising it to get the flavors out. Add some ice and shake the ingredients until the jam is dissolved. Add the vodka last and give it one more shake.

In your serving cup, add extra ice and pour in the cocktail. If your shaker doesn’t have a strainer, use a mesh strainer. Take a little sprig of rosemary and jalapeno slices to use for garnish, and enjoy.
