The mom that makes different meals for each of her kids, and sometimes even a third meal for myself. I remember as a thirty-something soon-to-be mom I made many “claims” on things I would never do as a mom. Well, about half of that list is out the window already and my boys haven’t event hit middle school yet. It’s ironic that I cook for a living and teach cooking classes to both adults and children and my kids really would prefer delivery pizza and drive through chicken nuggets over my bolognese lasagna. Be that as it may, I feel some days, as I am sure most of you do, I am in survival mode. Work, sports, doctor appointments, many of us- kids therapy appointments, and hopefully somewhere in there a quick workout to keep me sane. How do we juggle all of that and still feed our kids a healthy meal (that they will actually eat) so we don't feel like “terrible" parents?
We have been asked to define the term “Gourmet Convenience" that we use on our jars. To me, the terms “gourmet” and “foodie” have definitely been overused in our industry, but for this food geek, I still get excited when I step foot into a gourmet food store or gourmet section of a grocery store. Now-a-days you can turn on a number of cooking shows, pick up any food magazine, or scan the internet and quickly become versed on what society considers “gourmet food." Gourmet is something that involves high quality and unique flavors that you have carefully put together with a passion.
Since we have just launched Bellisari’s, I thought I would tell you a little about myself and how I came to be a “foodie.” I graduated with a degree is in Business Administration with a minor in Retail Administration. Throughout my early career I worked for The Limited, here in Columbus and Target Stores in South Florida.
We are so excited to officially launch Bellisari’s! One of my friends asked me the other day how I would explain what our company is to a stranger. The age-old question of defining who we are is an easy one to answer in this instance. So, what is Bellisari’s? In a word…family. We are aunts and uncles, moms, brothers and friends. Gathered around the kitchen island, sharing life and love. Listening to grandpa tell the same stories he’s told for years. Dad’s secret ingredient (the secret is sage, but no one has the heart to tell him we all know.) We are laughter and good food. We are passion. Passion for simple, bold ingredients; letting the flavors shine. Passion for creativity in the kitchen. Culinary combinations that make it all too easy to celebrate any occasion.
